Doggie Costume Contest

I love dressing up my dogs at Halloween! It's so fun and the kids that come trick or treating always enjoy seeing them dressed up. Here is a picture of Rusty dressed up as a cat. She is more like a cat than a dog (she sits on the back of the couch on top of the couch cushions, she stretches and arches her back like a cat, and rarely barks.) I think she looks so cute in this costume.

I entered her in a costume contest that our local
florist is having. This florist does wonderful work, and they are located next door to where Zubie & Bunny (my other dogs) go to daycare. They are giving away a first, second and runner up prize to the costumed dog with the most votes.

Rusty and I need all the help we can get to win the contest! (She's very skinny and would love some treats!) If you'd like to vote, click here. Thank you!

Spiders!!

I'm still working on little Halloween gifts for my co-workers and friends. I found these listed here on Splicoaststampers' site. They were really easy to make. And for once, I happened to have all the punches already to make the spiders! I love how they turned out. Hope you're having a great weekend!

Iron Chef Recipe Card

For the October Iron Chef recipe swap, the category I picked was "beverage"... well, turns out the secret ingredient was Tomatoes!! That made it really difficult for me, I didn't know of any tomato drinks other than a bloody mary. I looked online and found this recipe for a slow cooker tomato cocktail. I'm trying to use up some the patterned paper that I've had forever. I used some old Rusty Pickle paper on this card.

Frankie Bag

I saw a tutorial to make this Frankie bag on Scrap-Mart's blog here. I thought it was so cute, but seems kind of big to put candy in to give to someone. It's cute how they have it filled but not for me. So, I spent an entire evening trying to come up with a template for a smaller version of the Frankie box. The size of my Frankie box is 3" x 3 1/2". I hope you like it. The template is listed below, you can click on it to enlarge it.

Lockhart Stamps

A couple weeks ago, Karen from Lockhart stamps came to my LSS, Angela's Happy Stamper and taught a few classes. Her stamps are so cute and her coloring techniques are so cool. We made 3 cards, here are 2 of them. (I didn't like how my 3rd card turned out!) The rooster is stamped in white on black cardstock, and then just shaded in with a white pencil. I love the look of this technique.

Opening Day!

Today is opening day for the Capitals. I am so excited, it seems like the off season was soooo long! These are some pictures from the season ticket holder party at Six Flags that I went to last week. They opened the park up only to season ticket holders. It was a lot of fun. They had a couple rides going and they had all the players there to sign autographs. I got Brooks Laich to sign my jersey and John Erskine signed my Capitals hat. I hope it's a long successful season for the Caps!

Sympathy Card

Isn't it hard to make sympathy cards? I took one of Laura's 10 in 10 classes last year to make sympathy and get well cards. It was a great class. My card is based on one of the cards we made in the class. It's super simple, just stamp on vellum and attach with a ribbon onto patterned paper (I used SU paper for this card). The stamp is by Paper Inspirations.

Sketch Challenge

Happy Monday! I signed up for a swap on one of the Yahoo Embossing groups I belong to. For the swap, we have to create a card using the above sketch. I actually signed up for the swap before looking at the sketch, and once I saw it I wanted to back out! I wasn't inspired by it at all. But I love how my card turned out. I used one of my new Lasting Impressions templates (cupcake), some circle templates and an old Lasting Impressions template for the cherry. The background paper is new paper by Lasting Impressions. Isn't it so cute!?

Happy World Card Making Day!

I have a busy weekend so I'm not sure I'll get to make any cards today. But wanted to share a card I made earlier this week. I made it for my friend Donna. She's the one that embossed all the images for everyone who participated in the Halloween dry embossing challenge (see post below). I know that was a lot of work so I wanted to send her a thank you note. I used Lasting Impressions paper and a LI template for the flowers and scalloped edge. The thank you was dry embossed using a template I got at AC Moore (it's not marked who made it). Hope you have a great weekend!

Halloween Template Challenge

I belong to a couple dry embossing Yahoo groups. We do monthly swaps and occasionally, someone will post a challenge to create a card with a certain theme. This month, we did something different. We were given a challenge to create a card using a specific template pictured above. Most of us didn't have the template, so the person hosting the challenge embossed the images and sent them to everyone who participated. This was such a fun challenge, I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with.
