Memory Box Contest
Have you seen the Woodland Springtime Collection of stamps from Memory Box? They are so adorable. I love this stamp of the bunny watering flowers. This is my entry for the contest on Laura's Color Whimsy blog to win $100 of Memory Box products. The rules for the contest were to use at least one of the Woodland Springtime Collection stamps and your choice of markers to create either a card, scrapbook page or altered item. This bunny image really makes me think of Spring and planting flowers. I decided to make a little pocket to hold a flower seed packet. I think this would make a cute little gift. I added a little bow to the bunny's ear and stickles to the water to make them look a little more like water (since I stamped it with black ink). Hope you're having a great weekend!

Using Scraps
I made this card using some of my Lasting Impressions scraps. I dry embossed the flower using a Lasting Impressions template. I based this card on a sketch that I saw a couple weeks ago on Taylor's blog. I love this sketch and love how this card turned out. This was a super quick card to make. Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Tag Swap
I joined my first swap on Splitcoast Stampers a couple weeks ago. I used to swap a lot on the Paper Crafts site, but since they changed that site and merged it with the CK site, it just hasn't been the same. The swap I joined was for Birthday tags. I have been wanting to use this new Inkadinkadoo birthday cupcake stamp set that I got for Christmas, and I thought this was the perfect opportunity! I paper pieced the cupcake paper and then ran the paper through a corrugator to make it look more like an actual cupcake paper. I made a matching card to send to the hostess. I definitely recommending swapping. It is so much fun to make your swap items, and then the best part is getting lots of different swap items back. It's really fun to get new ideas from other swappers.

March Iron Chef Recipe Card
I am still participating in the Iron Chef recipe card swap and having so much fun. Jessica is a great hostess. This month, the category I chose was main dish. Lisa picked the secret ingredient, ground beef. Jessica sent each participant a little something (I got these cute St. Patrick's Day stamps and some green ribbon) and challenged us to use what she sent us on our recipe cards. As an added challenge, we were to make the card monochromatic, and add a decorative edge on the card. This was definitely a challenge!! I wish I had some green patterned paper but green is probably my least favorite color, and I'm already pushing the deadline so I had to make do with what I had. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
This is a card I made for a 1 on 1 St. Patrick's Day swap. I dry embossed the clover using a heart template because I don't have any clover templates. I think it turned out pretty well. The black/white paper is leftover from a card I made last week. It was sitting on my craft table and I thought it would look good paired with the lime green paper. Hope you have a great St. Patrick's Day!

Daisy Card
I made this card using the new Lasting Impressions paper. This is becoming one of my new favorite papers by Lasting Impressions. It goes perfectly with their daisy template. I dry embossed the daisy twice and used foam tape to give it some dimension. I also dry embossed some dots on the thin green strip of paper to give the card a little extra. I like how this card turned out, very spring like! Hope you're starting to see signs of Spring!!

Stampscapes
I needed a congratulations on your new home card for a guy, and was having a really difficult time coming up with a masculine type card for the occasion. I love my Stampscapes stamps but hardly use them. It's been a long time since I took a class on how to use them, and I forget how to add color to the images. They're stamped on glossy cardstock. I know you can brayer first on the cardstock to add color and then stamp, but I'm brayer challenged, I always end up with lines on my paper, so I try to avoid the brayer at all costs. With stampscapes, you take several stamps and use them to create a scene. I used about 4 or 5 stamps on my card. I think it turned out okay considering it's just a simple black & white card. It was quick to make and I think I acheived the look I was going for! I'm going to a stamp convention next month and the Stampscapes company is going to be at the show. I'm hoping to see a demo and get a refresher on some coloring tips!

Wii Night in Birthday Gift
I made this for my brother's 28th birthday. His birthday was a few days ago but I wanted to make sure he received the gift (I mailed it to him) before I posted it here. I learned my lesson about posting his gifts on my blog - at Christmas I posted something I made for him and he left a comment on my post. I had no clue he even looked at my blog. So if you're looking now - Hi Jeff!
I got the template for this from Papertrey Ink. It's one of Lauren Meader's timeless templates. You can find the template here. The template I used is the take along tote. I put a candy bar & a bag of m&m's in the front outside pocket. On the back pocket I put a bag of microwave popcorn. I put a Wii game in the middle of the tote. There is a pocket on the inside and I put a gift card for his favorite pizza delivery place in that pocket. Everything he needs for a "Wii night in"!

Use it Blog Challenge
My friend Rae started a new blog, to challenge us all to use our stash. I was so excited when I found out that Rae was starting this challenge blog. Like everyone else, I have tons of stuff that needs to be used! I made this card based on the sketch that Rae used to make her card. I've had this SEI paper forever. It's not really my style (actually I think it's more like Rae's style!), but I got it in one of the SEI mini kits. I used a bunch of old ribbon that I've had laying around, and a button from my stash. The stamp is an oldie too. Hope you'll join in on the challenge!

Pet Sympathy Card
This is a card I made for a friend who just lost her pet. I know how difficult it can be to lose a pet and I thought this card might brighten her day a little bit. I used some old Lasting Impressions paper and and an old Lasting Impressions stencil. I rarely use this flower stencil, but I'm wondering why. I like the look of the flowers. Hope you have a great day!

Pop Up Birthday Card... and a Lamborghini
Here's another pop up card I made similar to my owl card that I posted recently. The link for the tutorial is in that post. I used my favorite distressed line of Lasting Impressions paper and the cupcake is dry embossed using a Lasting Impressions template. The Happy Birthday sentiment is stamped.
And now for the Lamborghini... On Friday night I went to see my favorite hockey player Mike Green at a local sports bar. He and another Capital, Nick Backstrom, were bartending and trying to raise money for charity. There were a ton of people there and I feel lucky to get close enough to take these pictures. I left there kind of disappointed that I wasn't able to have either one of them serve me a drink! We were walking down the road to where our car was parked, and noticed Mike Green's lamborghini parked on the street!! I took advantage of the photo op. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Card Candy Holder
I made this as a gift for a friend. I have been in a lot of card candy swaps and although they are time consuming to make, I love the end result!! Card candy is handmade embellishments for your cards or scrapbooks. You know those little packages of stickers or embellishments you get at the scrapbook store? Just like that but handmade.... so much better! I dry embossed all the little embellishments using Lasting Impressions templates, and adhered them to acetate using temporary adhesive. I found the template for the holder at Papertrey's site. It's a FREE template! You can find it here. It's the recipe wrap up template. It was easy and quick to make. Then I put each of the little card candy pieces inside the pockets. I decorated the front with a few extra pieces of the card candy flowers. I love how this turned out. Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate it!

Snow Day!
Wanted to share some pics of our big snow storm. I've lived in VA for 8 years, and I think this is the 2nd largest snow storm we've had since I've been here. Too bad I only get a 2 hour delay from work. I am dreading driving in this weather! The first pic is my driveway and a view down the street. The 2nd pic is my dog Bunny running through the snow. It was up to her belly and she wasn't quite sure what to make of that. The last pic is Zubie with a face full of snow. He loves to put his nose down in the snow and run!

Yay Snow!
I am so excited about our expected snowfall today!! Originally they said we were going to get 5" of snow. Imagine my disappointment when I heard the revised estimate of 2" last night. I hope we get closer to the 5". This will be the biggest snowfall all season. Being from NE Ohio I really miss the snow, we just don't get much of it here in the DC area.
I was looking through my templates and with snow already on my mind, this one jumped out at me last night. I used a Lasting Impressions template and paper to emboss the snowmen, bucket they're in, and the sign. The background paper is by Bo Bunny. I used a piece of wire for the handle on the bucket. The little snowflakes are punched. Enjoy your Sunday!
