FINtastic friend!
The Yahoo embossing group that I belong to has been doing a monthly challenge that I am really enjoying!! One person volunteers to "host" the challenge. By hosting, they choose a brass template that they have, emboss some pieces and mail the pieces out to the participants of the challenge. Then, all the participants are to make a card using the pieces they received. We can use all the pieces or only a few... it's up to the participant. Kathy hosted this month's challenge. I know she always uses bright colors and I love the look of her cards. So I was partly inspired by her card making style when I made this card! I am pretty happy with the result.
Hope you have a great weekend, I have more hockey games to attend this weekend. I'm exhausted from this every other day schedule! It's hard going from work to home to take care of my dogs, then head back into DC and rush to eat and get to the game. I shouldn't complain, there's only a month or two left in the regular season. Then I'll miss it and won't know what to do with my extra time!

Owl's it Going?
I found the tutorial for this card on SCS here. It was a pretty easy tutorial to follow. The green piece in the middle of the card is a slider that pulls out and makes the owl pop up! I love how this card turned out. Such a fun card and a neat surprise for the recipient! I used Lasting Impressions paper and the owl template is by Lasting Impressions too. I printed the sentiment from my computer. This may be my only post this week, hockey season is really in full swing now. There are 4 Caps games this week, so it's hard to squeeze any crafting time in! Hopefully this weekend....

Another Pollycraft Card!
I just love these Pollycraft Digital images! They are so cute and they make super quick cards. I doodled around the outside of the image with a Zig pen and added a small prima flower above her ear. I used cardstock and SEI patterned paper for the background. Hope you're having a wonderful week!

Birthday Card
Just a quick post, I'm really busy today but wanted to share this birthday card I made recently. I used an old Lasting Impressions template and dry embossed the gift. I used my favorite line of distressed Lasting Impressions papers. I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment. Hope you're having a great day!

Iron Chef Recipe Card
The theme for the Iron Chef Recipe Card swap this month is broccoli. My category was a grilled recipe. I followed the sketch that the swap hostess gave us for my card this month. I found this cute broccoli guy on the internet, printed the image on cardstock, punched it out and added the little google eyes to him. This was a super quick & easy card. Hope you're having a great week and are staying warm!

Happy Valentine's Day!
Happy Valentine's Day! I've had this patterned paper forever, and finally used it on this card. I paired it with a piece of pink Basic Grey paper and added Lasting Impressions brads. I dry embossed the scallop circle and heart using Lasting Impressions paper. One of the reasons I like the Lasting Impressions paper is it has a white core, so if you sand it, the white core shows through. I had no idea the same thing would happen with the Basic Grey paper. I'll definitely be using more Basic Grey paper instead of hoarding it... okay well maybe not, but it's still good to know! I hope you have wonderful plans for Valentine's Day. Not sure what we're doing yet. I better go figure something out!

My attempt at scrapbooking...
My friend Lindsay is hosting a layout contest. I rarely scrapbook and definitely had to step out of my comfort zone to create this layout. But Lindsay is a great friend and I loved these pics of her daughter at the park, so I agreed to enter her contest! She is giving away a little goodie bag to everyone that enters, and a nice prize to the contest winner! I dry embossed the trees and added some super tiny buttons to them. I also added the buttons to the edges of the green strips of paper in the middle of the layout. I don't think you can see it in the picture, but I also dry embossed a dot border around the white layer toward the ends of the pages. The title was cut with my Cricut. I'm pretty happy with how this turned out, as I don't consider myself a scrapbooker!

Pollycraft Valentines Cards
The challenge on the Pollycraft Monday Challenge blog this week is to make a Love themed card. I used their digital images to make these cards. They come with one set of pre-colored images and one set of plain images so you can color them yourself. I used the pre-colored images for these cards. I just love these images, I think they're adorable. On the first image, I added stickles to the tiny heart in the center and also to the heart on her dress. I wanted this to a be a flat card because I'm going to mail it (and don't want to pay extra postage) but also wanted to give it a little something extra, and thought the stickles would be perfect. Hope you have a great weekend!

Valentine Card
I took a few days off from work this week and worked on my Valentine cards. This was a quick one that I made using a couple Lasting Impressions heart templates. I used Lasting Impressions paper for the background and then stamped "Happy Love Day" at the bottom. This card took less than 10 minutes to make! Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate it!

Cupcake Craft Challenge
Happy Wednesday! I decided to participate in the Monday cupcake challenge this week. This week's challenge was a color challenge, using pink, dark purple, light purple and white. I decided to use one of my Pollycraft digital images for this card. This is the first time I colored the image, rather than using the pre-colored images. This was quite a challenge to stick to these pastel colors. Not really my style.

We go together...
I saw the cutest Valentine cards at Etsy. Check them out here. There is a super cute one with peanut butter & jelly with the same sentiment. Her milk & cookie card was my inspiration for this card. I used my new Have a Cookie set by Melanie Muenchinger (Gina K Designs) that Chrisi gave me for Christmas (thank you!) and stamped the milk, cookie and cookie cutter heart. I colored all the images with my copic markers, cut them out and adhered them to the card with foam tape. I added the google eyes to the milk & cookie, and then hand drew the arms & legs. I printed the sentiment from my computer. I love how this turned out, for once it turned out exactly how I planned. Isn't it wonderful when things work like that?

He Loves Me... He Loves Me Not...
Wow, I can't believe it's already February 1st! Seems like Christmas was just yesterday! I need to get working on some more Valentine's cards. I got some new Lasting Impressions templates and this card was made using one of them. It's the same template I used to make the card & scratch pad holder below. I used Lasting Impressions paper that a friend gave to me. I loved the paper with the little daisies and used it as my inspiration for the card. I embossed each daisy to make it look like someone had pulled a petal off the flower, just like someone would be saying "He loves me, He loves me not." Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog, hope you're having a great weekend!
A Major Award!
I received this blog award from both Susan and Christy. Thank you ladies!! I love both of their blogs, Susan is wonderful at making House Mouse cards and she is fantastic at coloring images with colored pencils. You should definitely check out Christy's blog, she has pics posted on her blog of her gorgeous pink scrap room (I'm so jealous) and her crafty card making cat!
In order to receive this blog, I have to list 5 addictions that I have! Pretty easy...
1. Capitals Hockey - My hometown team, I love the Caps! I go to every home game, even considering hitting the road to follow them to a few away games this year!
2. Starbucks Strawberries & Cream frappucino -yummm!
3. Card Making & Scrapbooking - as if that wasn't obvious. I spend all my free time in my craft room.
4. Sunflower Seeds - (in the shell) I love to sit in front of the TV and eat sunflower seeds, they're so tasty.
5. UFC - I love, love, love the Ultimate Fighter reality TV show. It's the only reality TV show that I watch. It's a bunch of guys who have to live in a house together and cage fight in order to stay on the show. I'm not really sure why I like all these violent sports. But this show gets better & better every season. Guy drama is funny. I can't wait for a new season to start soon!
