Chipboard Cards
I think this might be my last CKC post showing projects I created in classes. I'll have to find something else to post next week! These are cards we made in the Chipboard card class. The first card was cut from a sizzix file folder die. The back of the card was cut from chipboard. We covered it with white paper, and then used a piece of patterned paper for the folding part of the card. We tied it all together with string and then embellished it with a chipboard "f" and rub-ons. The other two cards have chipboard that was painted. Hope you're having a nice weekend!

Quickutz Cards
Are you sick of my CKC posts yet?
Hopefully not....
These are cards we made in the quickutz class. I'm sort of wishing I would have bought a revolution instead of my cuttlebug. The dies just seemed to move through the machine so much smoother and easier the cuttlebug. I'm not sure if the revolution can take other brands of dies besides quickutz though. I guess I'll stick with what I have for now.

Explosion Box
I know, maybe I'm a little late to jump on the explosion box bandwagon. I think the thought of scoring paper a zillion times only to have my folds not line up properly (because it's inevitable that they wouldn't!) was just too much. So at CKC, I signed up for an explosion box class. And low and behold, the paper in our class kit was already cut and scored for us!!! All we had to do was fold the box and lid and then cover it with paper and embellish. I love how it turned out. The cool thing is, this explosion box has pockets (I hope you can tell from the picture) so you can put some hidden pics in the box.
Last year when the explosion boxes were so popular, someone at the PaperCrafts site had a 1 for 1 explosion box swap. You make an explosion box for your partner and they send one to you. I heard that someone wrote on the outside of the box "Explosion Box swap." Apparently that scared the post office. They tracked the sender down and questioned her about the contents of the box. They ended up letting the recipient have it, but they made her come to the post office to pick it up! So if you're sending one of these through the mail, don't write "Explosion Box" on the outside!

Pocket Cards
My brother and his girlfriend are here visiting for the weekend so I won't have much time to work in my craft room. Since I live just outside of DC, I think we are doing the touristy museum thing.
Just wanted to share some more cards from a class I took at CKC. These are from the Pocket Full of Cards class that PaperCrafts sponsored. The first card doesn't even open like an actual card. It just has that pull out piece for you to write on. We punched a hole in the dark patterened paper and used a rub on for the sentiment that shows through the circle. The second card is a 6x6 wrap around card. I love that paper, but I'm not sure who makes it. And the third card is a small gift card holder. Hope you're having a great weekend!

Recipe Card Swap at CKC
I signed up for a recipe card swap at CKC, sponsored by PaperCrafts magazine. PaperCrafts Pro Sue Neal instructed the class. That's a picture of my friend Jennie, Sue and me at the class. We were supposed to make 20 6x6 recipe cards and bring them to the class to swap with the other students. During the class, we also decorated this album. I love how it turned out. Those letters are doodlebug rub-ons! I never knew you could use rub-ons on a fabric covered album. Guess I've been living under a rock because no one else seemed surprised at that. We also made this candy bar wrapper. Those "sweet" letters are velvet! How cool is that?! Oh, and in case you were wondering, that chocolate bar lasted just long enough for the picture, then I had to open it and take a bite!

Back from CKC Charlotte!
This past weekend, I went to the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Charlotte. I took a lot of classes so I have a lot of projects to show you. (Now to just find the time to take pics of all of them and get them posted on here!) My favorite class was the Quick Quotes Flip Flop album. We used an actual pair of flip flops to make the album. It opens to have the paper accordian fold out. The words are printed on vellum and then attached to the pages. Everything else was die cut embellishments that came in our kit. I used my ATG gun to tape the pages to the back of the flip flops. I have some really cute pics of my niece & nephew at the pool when we went to visit them last summer. I'm going to put pics of them in the album.

A Dry Embossed Card!
Someone recently told me they thought I didn't like embossing anymore because I hadn't posted any embossing projects lately. FALSE! I love embossing, more than stamping but I haven't had a lot of time lately. Embossing takes a lot longer than stamping, and ever since I got my copic markers, I've been reaching for my stamps. I think the copics are so much easier to color with than pencils. So, here is a dry embossed card I made for a Fall Foliage notecard swap. This was actually pretty quick & easy to make. I dry embossed the leaf, cut it out and crumpled it up and put it on the card with a ribbon and stamped image.

Cream Puffs
This is one of my favorite recipes! They are so easy to make. And everyone thinks they're store bought! They are always astonished when they find out that I made them. I'm going to CKC in Charlotte, NC in a couple weeks. One of the classes I signed up for is a recipe card swap class. During the class, we'll decorate a scrapbook for the recipe pages and swap 20 of our recipe cards. When I went to CKC in Portland, OR a couple years ago, I signed up for the PC card swap. It was so much fun! Swapping in person was more fun than swapping through the mail. I'm getting really excited about going. I'm also excited about meeting one of my friends that I've swapped with and chatted with on the PaperCrafts site, Jennie. I think we're going to have so much fun taking classes, shopping & chatting.

Monkey Bread!
I'm hostessing an A-Z Recipe card swap over at the PaperCrafts site. Everyone signs up for a different letter of the alphabet and then makes a recipe card using a recipe starting with that letter. At the end of the swap, everyone will have a complete set of recipe cards, from A-Z! I let everyone sign up for their letter before I chose, so that left me with "U". I couldn't think of a recipe that started with U so I added "Unbelievably Good!" to the front of this monkey bread recipe. I like how it turned out. (Even if I am ready to throw that sizzix die out the window... so tedious running that thing through the cuttlebug 52 times - once for the darker brown color and once for the lighter brown color on the monkey)! How do people deal with die cuts?? I just don't have the patience.

Christmas Card Swap
I'm always a little behind ... here's one more Christmas card. Sorry I didn't get this posted in July! I joined a Christmas in July card swap at the PaperCrafts site. I used some of my new A Muse stamps to make this card. I added white stickles at the base of the house and at the base of Mr. & Mrs. Claus' feet to look like snow. I think it turned out pretty cute.

Punch-Ins Cards
I love the 3-D look of these cards. I saw a sample of these types of cards at my LSS a few years ago and was instantly hooked. To make them, you stamp the image (the image shows you how to place the leaves and/or flowers). Then use a couple (or many) punches to form the leaves or flower petals. You place the punched pieces on a mousepad and use a stylus to push in the middle or draw veins in the leaves which gives it the 3-D effect. It's easier than it looks, but it is time consuming. Hope you're having a nice weekend!
